2006 Lifetime Service Award: Ledge Clayton

The 2006 Lifetime Srvice Award was given to Ledge Clayton, an AMC member since 1965.

In addition to tenure as Chapter Chair (1975-1976), Ledge has been an active contributor to many Connecticut Committees.  He has been Chair of Trails, Membership, and Bicycling and an active member of the Conservation, NTO (“never tires out” – a precursor to today’s Young Members Committee), Mountaineering, Trails, Program, Membership, FCG, Excursions (for flatwater canoeing), and Nominating Committees.  As a member of the Club’s Major Excursions Committee for many years, Ledge led hikes that included cross-country skiing in the Canadian Rockies and hiking in the California Sierra Madres.

Ledge remains an enthusiastic August Camp participant, and has been its head hike leader coordinator, interim director, and a hike leader.  Ledge’s recent travels have been taking him to all the: State Capitols: Liberty Bells; towns and cities with the name “Clayton”; and fire towers of New England. A true AMC Renaissance man, Ledge is a deserving recipient of CT-AMC’s Lifetime Service Award.

Congratulations to Ledge Clayton, CT-AMC’s 2006 Lifetime Service Award!
