Get Lost Inside! “Lost” Game Night Social
Saturday, March 15, 2008
7 pm

Any “Lost” fans out there? I have had the “Lost” game for over a year now and still not had a chance to play it – so I thought I’d see if any fellow AMC’ers had my same addiction to the show! (If you aren’t addicted and just want to play a game you are still welcome! ) The game takes 2-8 players and sounds pretty complex, so you must like ‘thinking’ games! This will be at my place in Vernon, CT. Drop me a line if interested! Ana Ketch

Celebrate the Chinese New Year in New York City
Sat. and Sun. Feb. 9-10, 2008
(C4D).

Come explore Chinatown for a day or two. Exploration will be on foot and be limited to five miles per day. We will visit two of the large Chinese communities located in Queens and Manhattan New York. Each community is a city unto itself with strong ethnic and cultural traditions. Their sheer size will enable us to feel as if we have transported ourselves halfway around the world to China. For an authentic
experience the itinerary focuses entirely on Chinese culture for two full days. Furthermore specific cultural experiences will focus on true native Chinese culture and avoid Westernized Chinese culture for tourists.
Prepare yourself for a visit to a place were many people do not speak English, and some signs and restaurant menus offer no translation. Hone your travel skills of pointing, gesturing, and simple Chinese as you attempt to communicate while avoiding frustration. Learn about proper behavior for public interaction and good etiquette. Expect to have opportunities to see and eat foods that you have never seen before. Witness the grandeur and spectacle of the Chinese New Year's celebration. Learn about Chinese herbal medicine and tour a herbal pharmacy. Visit a Buddhist temple. Socialize with the natives in the local tea house or bar. Participants on this trip must be flexible and accepting toward new experiences. This event is open to any AMC member or guest. Activity is sponsored by Erik Madsen (CT AMC Young Members Group) and Carson Tang (NY Young Members Group). Erik and Carson are also Leading an AMC Major Excursion trip to China on May 6-26, 2008. Registration is required for either or both days of this activity and space is limited. Activities will begin each day at 10:00AM
and last into the evening. Leaders will provide info on transportation and accommodations if requested. A trip itinerary will be emailed to participants no later than February 2nd, 2008. Participants may register for one or both days. To register provide name, phone
number, and email to Leader. Registrants must specify activity date of interest and give city/state they will be traveling from.
