Featured Dinner Presentation

Climbing Antarctica's Vinson Massif

Featured Speakers:
Carolyne Gatesy and Donald Lewis

Learn the story about how this couple from CT became the oldest combined-age married couple by 20 years to scale Mt Vinson Massif. Fending off frostbite and sunburn in a land with temperatures reaching 50 degrees below zero, strong winds, and virtually no ozone layer was a constant challenge. The land was under continuous daylight, no signs of tree's or animals anywhere around, everything was white as far as the eye can see. Their tent was torn apart by unforgiving winds before they even began the climb. Once the couple was down the mountain, they had to wait for 9 days for optimum wind and visibility conditions for the plane to fly back to Chile.
